The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof Charles Esimone FAS, has attracted the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) Training & Certification Program sponsored by TETFUND for staff digital skills development which will enhance the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) literacy of the staff of the University. This is very crucial for the success of Project 200 which is ICT driven.
The program which commenced on the 24th August 2020 will train participants on three different modules which will enable them acquire different levels of ICDL certification if they pass the final examinations.
The Base module features courses which will help staff develop a solid understanding of key concepts relating to ICT including computers, devices and software; the Intermediate module trains staff in more advanced concepts such as cybersecurity and the relevance of ICT in the field of education while the advanced module will take their expertise in all these to a higher competence level.
The training in these modules is interactive and engaging. A diagnostic test will be administered participants to identify areas where they have better understanding.
This will determine where the participants will focus on for their Certification Test on the final day of training.
Participants who are successful in the profile test will be issued ICDL certificates which are international recognitions of their ICT proficiency and digital skills.
The ICDL training and certification is sponsored by TETFUND, as part of efforts to enhance the digital skills of staff. Over one hundred and fourty administrative staff, drawn from different departments and units, are currently undergoing this training.
